Patina Old Tawny Liqueur

RRP: $55.00

Tasting Note

My Tawny wine is made up of several varieties of grapes, including Muscat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and even a little bit of Semillon. It is an average age of 13 years old and displays luscious notes of nuts, toffee and contentment.

Winemaker’s notes:

A fortified wine is one that has been fortified with alcohol. It actually describes the process and the name sounds kind of technical but we can no longer call them Port as the Portuguese get a bit narky about that. In Australia we can only fortify with grape spirit which is the result of distilling grape wine and harvesting the alcohol.

Reviews & Awards:

92 Points, Golden-brown; whenever it was acquired, it is a rich tawny, with creme brulee, pistachio and cream notes before its cleansing finish.” James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

4.5 STARS Honey coloured tawny with rich, sweet aromas and nicely structured palate. Good rancio characters. Fruit shows up well and isn’t dominated by the alcohol.” Winestate Magazine

Cellaring:  The aging process of this wine has been done in barrel, with the bottling when we believe it’s tasting its best. While it certainly won’t deteriorate, it is at is peak now, and will stay that way for a number of years.
