Aged Riesling is a bit of a rare thing and I am excited to finally have one to share. I had several follow-on vintages of Riesling back in 2012 when this wine could have been released… so I decided to hold on to it and release it as an aged wine… One of the things you can do when you’re the boss.
Colour: Pale Straw
Aroma: The nose shows distinct aged minerally, honey and dusty characters with a hint of pineapple.
Palate: Although totally dry, ageing has given this wine a sweet/ dry appearance. Progressing from grapefruit and ripe orange early palate to a suggestion of bruised apple mid palate followed by a lemony tartness in the finish. All tempered by age that has definitely rounded off the corners giving this wine a unity from start to finish.
Cellaring: Showing some enticing aged characters but still has plenty of life and will develop more honey and mineral characters if patiently aged in a cool place for a few more years.
Short to medium term cellaring
