Fine wines with layers of distinction

Patina has a boutique range of Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Rose, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

The high altitude and volcanic soils enables the vinification of cool climate wines that exemplify finesse, tightness and slow development.

As a Boutique Winemaker Gerald Naef produces wines that are approachable and believes the wines should be released after they have achieved complexity and are a good compliment to food.

Sauvignon Blanc Fume 2008

$22 per Bottle, $250 per Case

The bulk of this wine was fermented and aged in a mix of new and old French oak barrels which enhances the mouth feel and palate length.  I then blended back a portion of tank fermented wine to add a little fruitiness to the aroma and grapefruit like freshness to the palate.

Rosé 2008

$16 per Bottle, $182 per Case

Although this Rosé is dry, the early palate shows sweet ripe red berry fruit leading to an intense mid palate with a crisp long dry, flavour-filled finish.  There is very little residual sugar in this wine (three grams per litre) the illusion of sweetness up front is primarily the result of ripe fruit and the blend of grape varieties.

Jezza Cabernet Merlot 2003

$35 per Bottle, $399 per Case

Made up primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the cool climate volcanic soils of Orange, this wine is complimented by a small portion of Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine nuances of black currant flavours with good up front palate intensity and a lingering soft tannin finish. Merlot rounds out the mid palate and contributors rich berry flavours which the Cabernet Franc contributes a lightly lifted floral note, sweet spice and intensity to the mid palate. This wine is drinking well now and should continue to develop and mature in the bottle for at least 15 years.
